It’s time to stop damaging the planet
How do airlines impact the climate?
When burning fuel during a flight, airlines produce greenhouse gases, mainly CO2. These directly contribute to climate change when released into the atmosphere.
Around the world, flights produced 915 million metric tons of CO2 and transported 4.5 billion people in 2019. This represents around 2% of all the CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions caused by humans.
We’re committed to the environment and are sure that together we can offset our emissions.

How are we reducing our carbon footprint?
It’s possible to offset the negative effect of flight emissions with the carbon credits granted by internationally recognized organizations. This type of organization specializes in guaranteeing the capture of greenhouse gases.
Your voluntary contribution is destined for projects that restore, conserve, and grow natural environments as well as improve the conditions of communities where these projects are implemented by providing new forms of income for their inhabitants.

What are carbon credits?
They are certificates that represent the reduction of 1 ton of CO2 from the environment. Which is equivalent to 140 cars not being driven for one day in Mexico City.
In order to receive an internationally recognized carbon credit, a project must reduce emissions and increase the capture of greenhouse gases in a real, permanent, and verifiable way. In the case of Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Uses stocks, this must be achieved along with the restoration and conservation of land.
With Vuela Verde you can be sure your contribution will have a measurable effect in the fight against climate change.

How do carbon credits and Vuela Verde work?
Carbon credits are assigned to projects that we monitor alongside 
, so that together we can confirm the continued capture of greenhouse gases from the environment.
Aeromexico and have designated resources to restore even more land, including the preservation of forests. Among the positive activities of projects like this are controlled fires, plague identification, sustainable logging, biodiversity monitoring and the supervision of livestock.
